Twinsie Tuesday: Essie Spun In Luxe

Spring is finally here and this week, we're having a little fun with the seasons and showcasing a "seasonal opposite" manicure. To me, spring is all about bright, bouncy colors and cute pastels. So for my opposite look, I put on Essie Spun In Luxe, a black satin. There's a really gorgeous teal shimmer in the bottle, but unfortunately it's lost almost completely on the nail unless you add top coat. Without it, it's just plain black--which is nice, but kind of a letdown compared to what you see in the bottle and how the shimmer comes across in the other Cashmere Matte polishes.

The first coat was kind of streaky, but everything evened out nicely by the second coat. The overall formula wasn't the best of the Cashmere Mattes, but it wasn't the worst either--and that kinda mirrors how I felt about Spun In Luxe in general. I didn't dislike it, but it wasn't a huge favorite. I just wish the shimmer was stronger. Still, it's a pretty enough polish if you take it for what it is and I think it fit this week's theme really well!

  1. Sadly, I found this collection a let down. The formula was just so bad it wasn't worth the effort. Shame, because the concept was great.

    1. I had issues with a lot of the formulas in this collection as well. I think Just Stitched was the only one that didn't have some type of hiccup with application.

  2. I really love your blog. It's to the point and honest. Great writing! :) I will probably reblog this as well because I (and many guys I know) like matte blacks. I prefer shimmer in them and I'm about to write about China Glaze's black I like. Amanda, a lot of my friends felt the same.

    1. Aww, thanks Andrew! I always like a little extra shimmer--in black polish or any color, really! :)

    1. Thanks Roisin! <3 I broke my right index nail the other day so I know I should chop the other nails down to match, but I'm really being stubborn about it. I love the length they are right now!
