Twinsie Tuesday: Most Hated Trend

This week's Twinsie Tuesday theme dared us to rock our most hated nail trend. Mine is probably when people shape their nails in very...*ahem* unconventional ways (lookin' at you, duck nails--click if you dare) but obviously I'm not going to do that to myself, so I had to substitute something else I dislike. I have to confess that I have never been a fan of the traditional French manicure. There are definitely ladies out there who can pull it off, but it's just not my personal style and I've never worn one. I did a funky French once for a past Twinsie Tuesday theme, but we shall not speak of that monstrosity.

I decided to do my French mani with matte black tips instead of white, in an attempt to make it a little more "me."  For my base, I used three coats of Essie Ballet Slippers, then freehanded the tips with a black Sally Hansen nail art pen.

I was pleasantly surprised that it didn't take me half a dozen attempts to do each nail. I actually did all of the tips on my first try! Yay! So from a technical standpoint, I'm happy with how this manicure turned out. It's still not really my thing style-wise but it was fun to play around with and try something very different from what I normally wear on my nails.

What is your most hated nail trend? I bet my fellow Twinsies will have some fun ideas for this one!

    1. Thank you! I am pretty pleased with how this particular mani turned out, but I guess French manis in general aren't really my thing. The less said about duck nails, the better haha.

    1. This is exactly how I feel. I could see myself doing a funky french now and again, but not on a regular basis. It's just not "me," I guess. :)

  4. I kind of love this on you. I'm a sucker for a french mani, but never a traditional. I try to put a spin on it each time!

    1. I look at them and is forced to wonder who would ever do that to themselves. It's just so...wrong.

  6. I think this looks great on you! I like that you used black for the tips. And yeah, duck nails are gross.

    1. Thanks Melissa! I think the black tips turned out pretty well. I will NEVER understand how duck nails became a thing. They are horrendous-looking!

  7. I think the flared duck feet nails are hideous but now this. This is cute. I love this. Standard french tips are so yesterday and I like the amped up look with the black instead. Tres Chic.

    1. Aww, thanks! :) At first I was worried that the black tips would just make it look like I had dirt under my nails or something, but I think they turned out pretty cool!

    1. Thanks Lakeisha! I remember buying some kind of Sally Hansen French manicure set back in middle school, but I totally screwed up on my first attempt with it and never used it again. I think that's the only time I've tried a French tip before this mani!

  10. Eeek duck nails...lol. I love how so many of the Twinsies have mentioned that. I was thinking of doing a french mani for this too because it's not something I do or wear...I think yours looks really cute! hehe

  11. Oh my gosh, I never realised duck nails were a THING. I just thought there were some really bad nail techs out there! Now you're telling me it's intentional? Help.
I love the mani! I like spiced up French mani's, and this one is starts all innocent with the nude and then BAM. Black tips. So cool!

  12. Back when I used to get acrylics, I'd always get the traditional. I'm over the traditional style now but like the occasional funky french.
