St. Patrick's Day Nails: Sinful Colors Green Ocean

You didn't think I was going to pass up the chance to rock some green nails today, did you? ;) A few days ago I picked up Sinful Colors Green Ocean, a green flakie that only makes an appearance once a year in the Sinful Colors St. Patrick's Day displays. I layered two coats of Green Ocean over two coats of Orly Fresh, a neon green creme.

My friend Kaley layered her Green Ocean mani (We went hunting for the bottle together and both had success!) over black and it looked stunning. It brought out some of the blue-green duochrome in the flakies. My camera here only really picked up the blue end of the spectrum but trust me, this polish looks much more beautiful and complex in-person. I put mine over green just to fit a theme but next time I wear Green Ocean, I'm totally putting it over black!

The formula on Green Ocean is alright. It's thick and requires some placing of the larger mylar flakes, but it's not a huge hassle overall. Formula-wise, it could be better but it could be worse. The polish itself is ridiculously beautiful though--and only two dollars!

Are you sporting green nails today? Happy St. Patrick's Day to all of my wonderful readers! Have fun and be safe, everyone!

    1. Yep, mine was quite thick and the brush gunked up with polish whenever I put it back into the bottle. It's so pretty though!

  2. I am liking the things folks have been coming up with that are NOT so only OK for St. Patty's day. Most of us need to put something on and wear it for at least another day or 2 before we can change out. If there is anything I hate more it's sporting my Halloween jack o lanterns or whatever and my shamrocks the day AFTER. I do those getting close to the date for Halloween and St. Patty's day and other nail theme capable polish jobs. But it's really important to me to be able to function the next day or 2 with the same mani on and not look like major party left overs! 'Course I am one that wants all signs of Xmas down and packed up in a day post Christmas. Maybe all this is because there were times I had to BEG my mom that we had to take the tree down - it was closing in on Valentine's day! She loved holiday decorations and would esp leave Xmas up long as she could get away with it....course that was days when we did not have all these other holiday decorations. There was a spring/summer motif and a few whiffs of fall ombre that worked for Thanksgiving and Xmas. Wonder if mom was still around when all the additional decorating came into vogue if she could constantly have something going in the house pretty much all yr? Anyhow..this is a great mani to be able to still have on at work come Monday if that need be!
