Hey all, sorry for the super late Twinsie Tuesday post today. I didn't have time to finish it before work today but I got it all done as soon as I got home! This week's theme is jelly sandwich, where you sandwich a polish between two layers of a jelly polish. I don't have a whole lot of jellies in my collection and I made multiple (crappy) attempts at trying to do this theme, most of which were too awful-looking to even photograph.
So I settled on doing two coats of Studio M Fame & Fortune (originally released under the same name by Color Club--Studio M is owned by the same company) sandwiched between OPI Too Hot Pink To Hold 'Em, a (as the name implies) hot pink jelly. The base of Fame & Fortune is tinted pink. Ironically it's tinted pretty much the same color as the OPI I chose for this sandwich look, something I didn't discover until I started doing the mani.
The formula on the OPI is good but the Studio M is really tough to work with. The base is thick and the big mylar(?) pieces are very difficult to paint on. Most of the time I just had to place them with my brush. The pieces are also surprisingly sharp; I wound up scratching myself on accident a time or two because edges of the pieces wound up hanging over my nail beds. I used one coat of Seche topcoat but you'd probably need at least two to cover up the rough, jagged texture of the irridescent pieces. Despite being a pain in the ass, they are really pretty and shiny though.
So there you have it: my jelly sandwich. Be sure to check out the other Twinsie Tuesday girls if you haven't already--and welcome to new addition Brandi!

This is a really cool sandwich. No one else used glitter that big or sharp so this is definitely unique!
ReplyDeleteAlso, I didn't know that Color Club and Studio M are related! I've been really itching to try Studio M forever but it's apparently only sold at some store in the midwest (Meijer's?) that like Ulta and Ross, we New Yorkers are deprived of. Major sad face.
Thank you! Yes, you can only get Studio M at Meijer. Most of their colors are re-packaged Color Club, which is really hard to find in stores in Michigan. I see Color Club occasionally at my Sally but like you, we don't get Ross here in Michigan. :(
DeleteThis turned out GREATTTT!
ReplyDeletevery very pretty! love the color on you:]
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteWow, this is gorgeous! You can't tell that the polish was hard to work with, you did such a great job!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I'm glad the final product didn't look as sloppy as the application was haha.
DeleteI really like the glitter in this polish, it's too bad that it was difficult to work with and scratchy. Nonetheless, this is still a beautiful mani :)
ReplyDeleteThanks! Yes, it was a total pain to work with but it looks cool so I'm willing to make some sacrifices haha.
DeleteThis is fantastic!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteI like the shards of glitter in your jelly sandwich!
ReplyDeleteI love this combo...that glitter is amazing!
ReplyDeleteLooks beautiful!
ReplyDeleteSo fun, I've never seen this before! Love that you did mylar flakes instead of glitter for your sandwich! Hate when polish is a pain to apply though
ReplyDeleteThank you!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I only saw this polish once at Meijer (the time I bought it) and then never again, before or since. I thought it might make for something a little different though. :)
ReplyDeleteHoly cow this is so gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThank you very much! :)
