Born Pretty Pink Flower Water Decals: Review & Swatches

 Happy Saturday! Hope your weekend is off to a good start! I don't have much planned for today, just a lazy day of Netflix and drinking lots of tea. Clearly I like to live on the edge.

Anywho, today I'll be showing you some water decals from Born Pretty Store! I have written about Born Pretty's water decals many times and they're one of my very favorite nail art products. If you're unfamiliar with the concept of water decals, they basically work like a temporary tattoo: dunk 'em in water, peel off the paper backing, stick 'em on, seal in with topcoat and then admire your fabulous nails. Easy!

Born Pretty carries these water decals in hundreds of different designs, so whether you want cartoon characters, abstract designs, animals--you name it, they probably make water decals of it. The decals I have to show you today are a pink flower design.

My goal with this combo was to try and make my nails look like mini gardens. I think it came out really cute! The decals themselves are incredibly easy to use and they blended in seamlessly with my base polish. I used one decal on each finger and still had plenty left over on the sheet--enough for another full manicure or several more, if I stuck with accent nails. I want to try these over a nice seafoam green shade next!

Pahlish Sugar Venom

Pahlish Sugar Venom is a vibrant pink with glitter pieces and microflakes in pink and berry. It's a very pretty summer pink and a prime candidate for my next pedicure color!

The formula is fantastic and covers in two coats. You'd think pink-on-pink may not make for a very interesting combination, but there is enough contrast between the two pinks and some extra sparkle to make this polish pop.

Pahlish Body Electric

Body Electric may just be my favorite polish yet from Pahlish's Coney Island Queen Collection! It's a beautiful robin's egg blue spangled with purple glitter and holographic pieces. I love the base color and the bits of purple look stunning against it! This polish has such a lovely, calming look to it. I'm seriously in love!

I used two coats here and this polish applies just as beautifully as it looks. I don't have too much more to add about Body Electric, other than that it's pretty much perfect!

Pahlish Blood Red Jam

Another Lana Del Rey-inspired polish from Pahlish equals another eager purchase from me. I really am powerless when something involves two of my favorite things: indie polish and Lana! Blood Red Jam is a deep red jelly base filled with sparkling red flakes and iridescent purple/orange sparks. It's a dark, sensual red that perfectly captures the brooding femme fatale side of the singer's persona--and heck, it's just pretty to look at!

The formula is stellar and covers in two coats. I highly encouirage clicking to enlarge these pics, because there's more going on in Blood Red Jam than might first meet the eye! It's packed with red flakes and those fun pops of purple and orange that really make this polish come alive, especially in the sunlight. It's a deep, classic red with a modern, sparkly twist!

Pahlish Anticipating and Pacing

I've got another gorgeous polish to share today from Pahlish's Coney Island Queen Collection. Anticipating and Pacing--a warm-toned coral base with gold shimmer and blue glitter--takes its name from Lana Del Rey's song "Blue Jeans." Orange and blue is one of my very favorite color combos, so naturally I am a big fan of this polish.

I used two coats here. Anticipating and Pacing makes for an amazing summer polish. It reminds me of starfish and the ocean--kind of a random association, but it's one I can't get out of my head. This polish just has such a beach-y vibe to me. The base color looks orange in some lights, but once I took a good look at it outdoors, it really is coral. Either way, it's a lovely combination and I love how the base and the glitter contrast one another perfectly. The gold shimmer is the icing on the cake!

Pahlish Coney Island Queen

When I first saw Pahlish's Coney Island Queen Collection, inspired by the music of Lana Del Rey, I think I must have set a record for shortest time between finding out a polish collection exists and immediately, shamelessly purchasing all of it. My wallet practically vomited out money. Lana Del Rey-themed indies?! Take my money, Pahlish--take all of it! I'm obsessed with Ms. Del Rey, so I absolutely had to have these. :)

Let's take a look at the titular polish from this collection, shall we? Coney Island Queen is a sandy nude infused with shimmering gold microflakes. The gold really warms up the nude base. It's very pretty and beachy!

Coney Island Queen represents my favorite kind of neutral: appropriate for any occasion, but with a touch of fun and sparkle to keep things interesting. The formula is excellent too and covers in three coats. This polish definitely captures the feel of a day at the beach--the hot sand, the sunlight glinting over the water... Ugh, is it summer yet?!
