Zoya Petals Spring 2016 Preview
I was a huge fan of Zoya's spring collection last year, so I've been curious to see what they'd have in store for us this time around. Zoya tends to go the route of offering both a creme and a shimmer version of each color in a lot of their collections, but they mixed things up this time around with the new Petals Collection. Zoya Savita
Savita is one of the most beloved of Zoya's Matte Velvet shades. This rich, regal purple satin is definitely one of my favorites! I love the color itself and the shimmer is to die for. There's just the right amount!
Something happened when I was painting with Savita that I've never experienced with a nail polish before. It smelled. And not just a strong nail polish/chemical smell, but almost...skunky or sour? I really can't describe it, but it was weird. It was noticeable until the polish dried, then after that I couldn't smell it. But it was such a random irregularity that I thought it was worth mentioning.
Other than some stank, Savita had a nice enough formula. Like a lot of mattes, you have to watch your brushstrokes so you don't wind up with lines, but the opacity and consistency are both great. What you see above is two coats.
What's your favorite Matte Velvet? And have you ever had an especially smelly polish? I'm curious if I'm the only one!

Zoya Lillian
Is there a certain polish that reminds you of someone you know? I had a very sweet co-worker who wore Zoya Lillian all the time (it looked fabulous on her, might I add) so this polish is permanently linked to her in my mind. I can see why she became so infatuated with it. Lillian is a creamy pastel blue with a hint of green in it--right up my alley!
This is one of my favorite shades of 2015 so far! Just look how cute it is! It reminds me quite a bit of Essie Blossom Dandy, which is not a bad thing at all.
The formula is pretty much your standard pastel: a little streaky, with some drag to it. It does self-level quite well though. I used three coats here.
I was lucky enough to snag all of the shades I wanted from the Delight Collection on clearance, so definitely hit up your local Ulta if you want these beauties on the cheap. With all the fall collections rolling in, now is a good time to score some deals on spring and summer shades!

Zoya Aphrodite
Zoya Aphrodite might just be the most perfect red polish ever. A bold statement, yes, but when you see Aphrodite, I think you'll understand. This slightly orange-leaning red glassfleck is, to me, the standout shade from all of Zoya's summer shades. I took a bazillion pics of this polish because I'm kinda obsessed with it, so at least you guys get to see it in a bunch of different light settings!
See how bright and beautiful it is?! Just...ugh, so pretty! This is anything but "just another red." And Aphrodite not only looks perfect, she has a flawless formula to match! This was two easy coats. In fact, the only fault I can find with this polish is the bottle itself. Mine has a typo on the label:

Zoya Vega
I want to apologize that I haven't been around as much this past week or so. In fairness, I've been watching my boyfriend's cat while his family is out of town and really, how can I be expected to concentrate when this adorable face wants to cuddle and play?
But I did manage to tear myself away for some nail time. I was in the mood for some serious glitter and they don't come much glitzier than Zoya's Magic PixieDusts! It's been a while since I wore a textured polish but I was itching to wear one again.
Vega is an icy blue textured polish with chunky silver holo glitter. I know a lot of people were divided on the Magic PixieDusts but I really like them! Amanda was kind enough to hook me up with the first batch of them for my birthday last year and Vega might just be my favorite of the trio. The base color is beautiful and all that extra glitter and holo on top certainly doesn't hurt! It's like an uber version of one of my other favorite textures, OPI Tiffany Case.
Vega is more opaque than most of the other Magic PixieDusts. I probably could have stopped at two coats but I applied three for good measure. I find thinner coats work best with PixieDust polishes, as some of them can be a little slow to dry.
I know textured polish isn't "on trend" anymore, but I still like to bust out my favorite textures. They're pretty, so that's all I care about. :) Do you still wear textures or have they gone the way of crackle?

Zoya Summer 2015 Preview
If you're in the market for some fun, tropical hues, then Zoya has got you covered this summer! As usual with Zoya's big collections, there are actually two sets of polish here: Island Fun (the cremes) and Paradise Sun (the shimmers), for a total of 12 new shades. Check 'em out!
I'm loving these! It's a great example of how a brand can do summer brights, without automatically going the neon route.
These pretties will be available May 5, I've got my eye on Talia, Isa and Oceane. What about you?

Zoya Bobbi
I often say that pink is my favorite "real life" color, while blue is my favorite polish color. But when it's a pink like Zoya Bobbi? Consider me won over! Bobbi is a gleaming warm-toned pink foil that came into my collection courtesy of the ever-generous Amanda. If you look closely, Bobbi has little gold flecks, which add an extra dash of sparkle to the mix. She is almost red; my boyfriend commented on my "red nails" and we quibbled over the semantics of red vs. warm pink.
Bobbi has a wonderful formula. I used two coats here.
Bobbi definitely looks pretty in the bottle, but I didn't anticipate falling in love with this polish as much as I did! It's such a perfect pink and the shine on the foil finish is absolutely stunning. I guess I'd never thought about it before I wore Bobbi, but really, Zoya makes some of the best foils out there!

Zoya Veruschka
Zoya Veruschka has been a lemming of mine since I first got into polish. So to finally be able to pick it up--on clearance, no less--felt pretty darn good. A recurring theme on this blog is my obsession with green polish and Veruschka is a very special one: a forest green satin. It's a really cool, different-looking polish that was absolutely worth the wait!
I wore Versuchka as-is for a day, then decided to try it with some topcoat, just for kicks.
I'm not sure how I prefer it, to be honest. The topcoat brings out that gorgeous shimmer, but I like how edgy and unique it looks without topcoat. So really, you win either way. Wear time without topcoat isn't great, however. After about half a day, I already had a decent-sized chip on my right index finger. The formula is absolutely excellent though! It's very easy to apply and not chalky in the slightest. I used two coats for this mani.

Zoya Delight Preview
I dunno about you, but I am so ready for spring. It's literally three degrees outside right now and I am not having that. So I'm already starting to bust out some spring colors on my nails, as if that will somehow get rid of the snow faster. :-/
Anywho, earlier this week, I showed you what OPI has cookin' for their spring collection and we've already seen what China Glaze will have in store for us. Today we're checking in with Zoya! Zoya's spring offering is smaller than OPI's, with six shades as opposed to twelve, but there's no shortage of great seasonal colors here. The collection, dubbed Delight, officially launches on February 2nd. Let's take a look!

Zoya Naturel Satins Preview
Happy New Year, everyone! Any big plans for tonight? I got invited to two parties, but I will be lying at home with the flu, probably watching trash TV. There's a pretty bad bug going around and just when I thought I was in the clear, it snuck up on me. Ugh! Anyways, please be safe tonight and remember to always have a designated driver!
Now onto some polish. I gotta admit, Zoya's annual Naturel Collection is not one of my most-anticipated releases. I love brights, so an all-neutral collection isn't really my thing. But Zoya switched it up in a big way this year, not only added more colors to the mix, but also making a whole collection of satin polishes!

Zoya Cosmo
Zoya Cosmo is a silver textured polish with holographic silver glitter pieces. This is one of the original Magical PixieDusts, which featured a denser, chunkier look. People seemed less enthusiastic about the latest round of Magic PixieDusts, released this summer, but Zoya did a fantastic job with the first installment. They took everything awesome about the original PixieDusts and threw on some extra sparkly holo goodness! What's not to love?

The most common complaint I read against the summer Magic PixieDusts was that they weren't fully opaque. But the originals are much denser, so you can easily build them up to full coverage. I used three coats here. You do have to guide the larger glitter pieces away from the free edge of the nail and be careful not to overload your brush, but otherwise, application was pretty good.
Are you a fan of the Magic PixieDusts? They can be somewhat polarizing, but you know where I stand on them! ;)

Zoya Wishes Preview
The holiday marketing seems to come earlier each year, doesn't it? I'm already seeing Christmas merch in stores! But hey, it also means new polish is coming out, so I can't complain too much!

They look like some gorgeous shades, so if the formulas are on-point, there could be some real homeruns here!

Zoya Matte Velvet Re-Release
They're baaaaaaaaack! Zoya's cult favorite Matte Velvet polishes are making a comeback this holiday season and they're bringing a new matte top coat with them! The Matte Velvets are currently available for pre-order on Zoya's website and it sounds like Zoya will be making them available in stores as well. There's no word on an exact launch date yet, so keep your eyes peeled!

Zoya Rue
We're busting out some neutral nails for this week's Twinsie Tuesday! I decided to delve into my untrieds for my pick: Zoya Rue, a pink-toned nude. (Zoya calls this color "boudoir blush," which I think is a really cute description.) Rue first came onto my radar because of the name. As a Hunger Games fan, I wanted it! Ultimately, I was lucky enough to receive this polish from Amanda, so a big thanks goes to her for hooking me up with this pretty nude!
The formula on Rue is awesome. It's got a near-perfect consistency to it that provides full coverage in two coats.
I was kinda worried the pink undertone on this one would clash with my skin, but I actually like how Rue looks on me! One of the things I appreciated about Zoya's Naturel collections is that they showcased a wide variety of "nudes" that will work on lots of skintones. Plus, even if the shade you pick isn't a mannequin hands match, it's still bound to be a clean, versatile palette cleanser. Win-win!

Twinsie Tuesday: Zoya Zuza
This week we're doing teal nails, in recognition of September being ovarian cancer awareness month. There's currently no simple screening test for ovarian cancer, so early detection and diagnosis are key. Next time you're at the doctor, take a few minutes to ask them about early signs and symptoms of ovarian cancer. Hopefully it is information you and your loved ones will never need to actually use, but it's important to be informed and aware.
Okay, so that's my little speech. Let's look at some nails, yeah? :) For my teal mani, I opted for Zoya Zuza, a bright, summer-y teal with silver shimmer. It kinda reminds me of a more saturated Butter London Victoriana, an old favorite of mine.
I reeeaaaalllyyy hope this doesn't stain. I've always had bad luck with Zoya teals. One thing I do know already though is that Zuza's actual formula is pretty "meh." There's a lotta drag to it and it can get lumpy at spots if you're not careful. I needed three coats in total.
The color itself is lovely though! The shimmer is beautifully intense and a prime example of why Zoya shimmers are such a reliable favorite in the polish world.

Zoya Remy
I have this color somewhere in my stash. I couldn't name you the exact polish, but given my buying tendencies and my affinity for jewel tones, I know that I do. But when I saw Zoya Remy...I just couldn't resist. This rich, deep teal with intense gold shimmer swept me off my feet.

I don't have any complaints with the actual formula--it's great and covers in two coats--but I will say that Remy stains something awful. I had one stain on my right index finger that was so bad I actually had to cut that nail because the stain toward the tip of my nail that would not come out. So definitely use caution when applying this one. Double up on the base coat and stay as far away from the edges of your nail as you can, otherwise you'll be dealing with some major cuticle staining. I feel like a lot of Zoya teals stain, which is unfortunate because they are always so stinkin' pretty!

Zoya Sansa
This week's Twinsie Tuesday theme has us doing manis inspired by a book. I love reading and, along with doing my nails, it's one of my favorite ways to unwind after a long day! When I first saw this theme on the TT schedule, I had some sort of awesome idea for it that I remember being very excited about. But then a few weeks passed and...well...I kinda forgot just what that idea was. D'oh!
So instead, I decided to showcase Zoya Sansa from the new Ignite Collection. While this polish is absolutely lovely, as a fan of the A Song of Ice and Fire book series (and of course, its TV adaptation, a little show you might have heard of called Game of Thrones), I really bought it for the name. If you haven't read the books or seen the show, Sansa Stark is the eldest daughter of the Stark family, the nobility in the north of Westeros. She starts off as a very naive young girl who loves fairy tales and dreams of being a proper royal lady. But as she is exposed to the political intrigues and personal manipulations unfolding all around her, she becomes a power player in her own right.
Sansa the polish is a deep shade of eggplant purple with intense gold shimmer. It's very dark, to the point that it would look almost black in some lights, if it wasn't for that gold shimmer being there to really warm up the base color. I think a rich, regal purple mixed with a healthy dose of darkness is the perfect summation of Sansa's character arc in the series so far.

The formula here is excellent. Sansa is very nearly a one-coater, although I did wind up using two coats. For me, the shimmer is what makes this polish. I love how vibrant it is and it catches the light beautifully! Zoya really does make some of the best shimmers in the business, if you ask me!
