Darling Diva Dangerous Driver

Ever wonder what the legendary Clarins 230 would look like as a holo? (*drool*) Well Darling Diva has made that fantasy a reality with Dangerous Driver! You guys, this polish is bananas. It's filled with multichrome linear holographic goodness and I just can't get enough of it! It was really hard not to post a bazillion photos of this beauty!

Like 230, Dangerous Driver takes on a bit of a different personality depending on what you layer it over. Your choice of base will bring out particular colors and shifts. Here I've layered two coats over China Glaze Man Hunt, a rich royal blue. The formula is excellent and I had zero application issues.

So yeah, basically, this polish is insane and if you love a good holo or multichrome, you need this one in your life! It's even prettier in person when you can see the individual sparkles flicker in the light and you get subtleties to the color shift that can't really be captured on camera. I'm curious to see how it looks over black, so I think that will be next on my list to try with this polish. But I'm betting you could layer Dangerous Driver over anything and the result would always be gorgeous!

Darling Diva Bitches Have Birthdays

If you could somehow take a cupcake and put it into nail polish form, I'm pretty sure the end result would be Darling Diva Bitches Have Birthdays. This polish is like a love letter to everything cute and girly: there are pink and white heart glitters, silver holo butterflies, various shapes and sizes of teal, magenta and silver glitter...and of course, the pink jelly base. No girly polish would be complete without a healthy dose of pink! Bitches Have Birthdays is a great mix of fun and traditionally feminine elements. It really does remind me of an adorable little birthday cupcake, covered in pink frosting and rainbow sprinkles!

I love how there's so much going on in the base of this polish with all the different colors of glitter, but to me, the real show-stopper is the addition of the larger glitter pieces. There are a lot of them in this polish, especially the butterflies, so you do have to be a bit mindful of where you place them, otherwise you can wind up with way too many big glitter pieces on a single nail. Other than that little quibble though, the formula is great and delivers complete opacity in three coats. There's a lot of different elements to Bitches Have Birthdays, but they all work together beautifully to create a polish full of sugar, spice and everything nice. (I was an enormous Powerpuff Girls fan as a kid, what can I say.)

Twinsie Tuesday: Darling Diva Invoke The Spirit

With Halloween just around the corner, this week's Twinsie Tuesday theme is a Halloween-inspired mani. I'm sure many of the girls will have some incredible nail art to show off today, but let's face it: nail art is not my strong point. So I decided to go with a Halloween polish that will do all of the work for me and provide some instant art: Darling Diva Invoke The Spirit!

Invoke The Spirit is a black jelly base filled with large iridescent hex glitters (in blue, green, orange and silver), silver holographic stars, green crescent moons and blue flakies that also glow in the dark! The overall effect reminds me a lot of planets in space. This has got to be my favorite Halloween polish I've ever tried!

So cool, right?! I love how inventive Darling Diva's owner, Carrie, is with her polishes. She is always playing with new colors, textures and shapes, so there's always something unique and interesting to try out in her line. I think Invoke The Spirit is one of her best polishes yet--instant planetary nails!--and the fact that it glows in the dark on top of all of its glittery awesomeness is just icing on the cake. My old-ass camera wouldn't cooperate for glow-in-the-dark shots, but the flakies have a bright neon blue glow to them once the lights are out.

Despite how packed with large glitter pieces Invoke The Spirit is, the formula is still fabulous. I used three coats here with Rimmel Black Satin as my base to intensify Invoke The Spirit's own black jelly base and really bring out the gorgeous iridescent colors. Those large hexes are so fun to look at and really pop off the nail! I think they're what sold me on this polish the most.

Darling Diva Regulus

I've been a bit lax on wearing all of my Halloween polishes. I don't really get into the spirit of holidays until just a few days before, so now I'm powering through the holiday polishes I've been neglecting. The one I'm about to show you today is a bit different from your normal Halloween fare though. Darling Diva Regulus is a bright magenta jelly filled with iridescent purple flakies, large red hex glitter and small green square glitter. I could not stop staring at this polish, it was ridiculous! The flakies are what really got me!

Ugh, don't those flakies just kill you?! So gorgeous! The overall formula is just about perfect and covers in three coats. I love that you can wear this alone without having to worry about that pesky VNL! As much as I enjoy coming up with combos for my indie glitters, sometimes it's fun to have a polish that takes all the guesswork out of of things for you.

Regulus is technically a Halloween polish and while normally I'm a bit OCD about wearing holiday polishes around their designated time of year, I would totally wear Regulus year-round. It's a really unique combination of colors, shapes and textures that I think works regardless of season.

Twinsie Tuesday: Darling Diva Space Beetle

It's no secret that I love indie polish, so of course I was thrilled when I saw this week's Twinsie Tuesday theme was going to be indie polish! I wanted to choose something very special to showcase today and I hope you'll agree that Darling Diva Space Beetle is a drop-dead gorgeous indie. Imagine a linear holo version of Orly Space Cadet or Hard Candy Beetle. Sounds amazing, right? Well that's exactly what Space Beetle is and yes, it's absolutely incredible! Check this out and get ready to drool...

Ahhhh I love it! This really could not be any prettier. I wish every one of you could see it in person, because it's even more stunning in real life! The linear holo is strong but doesn't overwhelm the gorgeous duochrome. But elements shine through beautifully. I tried to take pictures in different lighting environments to show off all the different sides this polish has to it.

The formula is perfectly smooth and flawless. This is not one of those linear holos you have to wear a special basecoat with, like the Nfu Oh holos. Space Beetle worked fabulously with my Seche basecoat and topcoat did not seem to dull the holo at all. Dry time is very quick and this polish is opaque in three coats.

At $12, Space Beetle costs a bit more than Darling Diva's usual polishes, but you're getting a full-size bottle so I think the price is ultimately very reasonable. Besides, just look at this and tell me it isn't worth the extra dollars! You can buy Darling Diva at Carrie's Etsy shop.

Darling Diva Raspberry Kami

I've got another beauty from indie brand Darling Diva to share with you all today! Darling Diva Raspberry Kami has a berry microshimmer base filled with various shapes and sizes of silver holographic glitter. Take a look at all this glittering holographic goodness!

This is two coats of Raspberry Kami over Pixi Very Violet. I went with a red-based purple to compliment the shimmer in Raspberry Kami itself, but I think it would look great over just about anything. Raspberry Kami's formula is excellent and all of the glitter applies evenly. I didn't have to place any of the pieces or fish for certain shapes. This is one of those "party in a bottle" polishes that instantly kicks any mani up a notch. I got several compliments on it at work today, which is always a fun bonus. :)

Darling Diva Diabla

I've got another awesome indie brand to share with you today: Darling Diva! Darling Diva Diabla is a clear base with small and large black hex glitter, large red hex glitter and red microshimmer. I wore this polish two ways: over a white base (Sally Hansen White On) and a dark base (OPI Nein! Nein! Nein! OK Fine!). This is three coats of Diabla over each.

I love how Diabla looks completely different over each base. I like it best over white but I think it looks great either way. This is one of those polishes that can transform any manicure and I love the dramatic contrast you can create with the black glitter and your base color. Diabla is a perfect representation of its name ("she-devil") and would work especially well for Halloween or anytime you want to add some extra edge to your mani.
