Orly Dark Shadows Preview

It seems like Orly will be hopping on the cross-promotional lovetrain as well this summer with their first movie-centric offering, a collection inspired by Tim Burton's latest film, "Dark Shadows." The collection, which will be available in May, features four new shades.

L to R: Mysterious Curse, Buried Alive, Grave Mistake, Decades of Dysfunction

Meh. Personally I don't see anything here that excites me, although Mysterious Curse sparked my interest a little bit. Orly, you need to release another FX collection so we can be lovers again!

See anything you like in this collection? What do you think of so many brands doing collections inspired by movies and popular characters lately?

  1. I will wait to see some swatches or see them in person before I make a decision... I think the promo pics aren't very telling of the actual color some of the time. I think they look interesting enough to keep my eye out for them.

  2. True, bottle pictures are so tricky! I wish they'd just release actual pictures of the bottles instead of promo shots.

  5. I'm a little curious about Buried Alive and *possibly* Decades of Dysfunction. My hopes aren't too high for the swatches, though. IDK, I think I'm biased because I'm a die hard Tim Burton fan.

  6. Hard to tell from the graphic representation of the bottles only. I think it's curious how the polish lines have jumped into deals that collaborate with the movies coming out. I really want to see OPI go back to doing standard holiday releases and not always a should be but turns out not to be holiday movie block-buster. But it is an advertising angle that had not been tried before. They say last year was the biggest polish selling year of all time - I wonder if it's because there are so many more collections each year, advertising tie ins, or something most can afford to buy and not break the bank like a high end make up line?

  7. For got to say - I have not read anything about Tim Burton's new movie - but the name Dark Shadows reminds me of the early 60's late afternoon TV soap that had a wealthy family and a vampire in it.
