Revlon Facets of Fuchsia

On the heels of Revlon Blue Mosaic, one of Revlon's new glitters I showed you last week, I have another one for you today: Revlon Facets of Fuchsia. Facets of Fuschia is a black jelly base with round and hexagonal fuchsia glitter. I mentioned in my post for Blue Mosaic that it reminded me a little of Deborah Lippmann's Across The Universe. But while Blue Mosaic and Across The Universe are NOT dupes, Facets of Fuchsia IS a dupe for another Deborah Lippmann polish, Bad Romance.

(Revlon Facets of Fuchsia, three coats plus one topcoat)

I'm not sure what to say beyond stating the obvious: Facets of Fuchsia is awesome. It's probably my favorite of the three glitters just released by Revlon. The formula is marvelous and considering that this polish cost around three dollars at Target, you really can't beat the price. I want MORE drugstore polishes like this one!

I will have the last of the Revlon glitters, Starry Pink, to show you soon, but having already worn it once, I can tell you the formula and glitter are equally nice as Blue Mosaic and Facets of Fuchsia. I'm not sure if these glitter polishes will be limited edition or not, but grab (at least) one if you see them! Very, very cool.

China Glaze Bogie

This polish was on loan for the day from a friend of mine; I'm slowly trying to turn her into a polish addict like me! Bogie is an eggplant purple frost from the China Glaze Vintage Vixen collection released a while back. It is, of course, named after one of my personal favorite actors of all-time, Humphrey Bogart. (Fun fact: My parents had a Yorkie named Bogie too.)

(China Glaze Bogie, two coats plus one topcoat)

I used two coats for this mani but Bogie is almost opaque with one. For a frost, it's not super brushstrokey, which I like. Sometimes I think frost finishes can come across a little on the dated side, but the vampy color helps make this one modern-looking. I don't have any colors like this in my collection, so I was glad for the chance to give Bogie a try!

Orly Fresh

The other day I showed you Frisky, a Tiffany blue-esque creme from Orly's Happy Go Lucky mini-collection. Well today I have one of its collection-mates (Is that a word? If not, I just made it one.), Fresh. Fresh looks like a grass green creme on steroids; in fact, the more I looked at it I decided it's basically Hulk green. I liked this shade in the bottle but once I put it on my nail, something apparently started to go wrong.

(Orly Fresh, two coats)
I hate when I find a color I like on its own that then looks awful against my skin tone. HULK SMASH! (Sorry, I couldn't help myself.) I'm pretty pale and personally I just don't find this flattering on me. I believe the first thing I said to my friend right after I finished this manicure was, "This makes me look like I have jaundice."

But hey, that's the fault of my own genetics, not the polish itself. Fresh is still a fun neon, I just don't think it's for me. But I'd love to see this on someone with a different skin tone! The formula was a little on the runny side but nothing too hard to handle. I used two coats here (no topcoat this time), with three on a few nails to cover up a bald spot here and there. I think I'll keep this in my stash anyways-after all, I don't have any other neon greens like this-and see if I warm up to it more. You never know...

OPI Crown Me Already!

Having only worn this polish one time, I am still confident in saying it may be one of my all-time favorites. Crown Me Already! is a silver glitter with both hexagonal and round glitter. It's a part of OPI's latest collection, meant to correspond with the Miss Universe pageant. Say what you will about beauty pageants but the polishes in the collection are all GORGEOUS and this one is certainly no exception. It's so shiny that my camera had some trouble capturing it at first.

(OPI Crown Me Already!, three coats plus one topcoat)

I suppose you could use Crown Me Already! for layering, but it's quite opaque on its own. I prefer it worn alone; the different sizes of glitter give the impression of a jewel-encrusted look on the nail. It kind of looks like shattered mirrors. I used three coats here and had no issues with the formula. I don't know what else to say other than I really, really love this! Please OPI, bring us more awesome glitters like this one!

OPI The One That Got Away

The One That Got Away is a berry shimmer from the OPI Katy Perry collection. (I may or may not be a closet Katy Perry fan...) I like the mix of vamp and sparkle with this polish. In the bottle it looks like it might have some duochrome to it, but it doesn't translate onto the nail, sadly. However, this polish does have a "lit from within" look to it; it practically glows on the nail!

(OPI The One That Got Away, three coats plus one topcoat)

And a few indoor shots...

I used three coats here and had no problems with the formula. This is one of the polishes I'm less crazy about from the Katy Perry collection, but I still like it quite a bit and it's very pretty. (My favorites from that set have to be Teenage Dream, a pink glitter which I absolutely LOVE and Not Like the Movies, a silver duochrome.) I don't have a lot of berry polishes-not really my thing I guess-but when I want to wear one, this is the one I always reach for.

Orly Frisky

Frisky is part of Orly's Happy Go Lucky mini-collection. It's a turquoise-y blue creme, almost like Tiffany box blue; very much in the vein of China Glaze For Audrey, although Frisky may be less green-tinged than For Audrey.

(Orly Frisky, two coats plus one topcoat)

The formula on this was very cooperative and coverage looked just right after two coats. I really like the rubber cap on Orly's bottles too; it makes application a breeze! If you already have For Audrey or one of its dupes, you PROBABLY don't need this, but if you're like me and want it anyways, then it really is a lovely shade-very fun and summery. I think I actually like Frisky a little better than For Audrey, since I prefer the hint of blue to For Audrey's hint of green, but I don't really think you can go wrong with either shade.

Y'know, for a long time I never bought Orly (no particular reason why), but the more Orly polishes I try, the more I really love them! I also picked up Fresh, the neon grass green creme from this same collection, so I'm excited to show that to you soon as well!

Revlon Blue Mosaic

Revlon appears to have a new mini-collection of glitter polishes just hitting the shelves right now. There are three polishes: Starry Pink, Facets of Fuchsia and the polish I have for you today, Blue Mosaic. (But yes, I did buy all three... I'll show you them all in the next few days!)

Blue Mosaic has blue glitter and larger, hexagon-shaped glitter in silver and green. You could easily wear this polish alone, but I thought it'd look best layered since it has a clear base, so I put two coats of Blue Mosaic over one coat of Rimmel Black Satin. Here's how it turned out!

The color scheme and hexagonal glitter of Blue Mosaic reminds me a little of Deborah Lippmann Across the Universe. They're not dupes or anything, but Across the Universe is what popped into my head when I first saw this.

No complaints on the formula for this one; it goes on well and I didn't have a problem with getting the larger glitter pieces to lie flat. I think Blue Mosaic is really cool and you don't see a lot of drugstore polishes like these new glitter ones. I hope Revlon makes more!
