The On Safari train keeps on rollin' today with another new China Glaze! This time I've got Kalahari Kiss, a light golden yellow creme. I think this will be one of those love it or hate it polishes. Polarizing yellows is kind of a China Glaze thing, isn't it? Classic Camel, Trendsetter, Celtic Sun... But as for Kalahari Kiss, count me firmly in the LOVE category!
Like with Exotic Encounters, the formula felt a bit thick but also very opaque. This was nearly a one-coater but covered completely in two coats--impressive for a yellow! This is completely different than the type of color I normally go for, but I was very intrigued by it once I saw the preview pics. Now that I have Kalahari Kiss, I find it surprisingly flattering. I'm kind of shocked how much I like it. The color actually reminds me a little bit of peanut butter. Mmmm.... But I think there's also something oddly chic about this polish and it's really not as "out there" as I thought it might be. It's unusual yet understated.
Thanks for sharing these - it really does look good on you!
ReplyDeleteIt really does look amazing on you! I had not planned on picking this one up, but I might give it a second look.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I had waffled on whether or not I could pull it off, but when I saw it in person I decided to just go for it.
DeleteWell said about CG's polarizing yellows! Previously, I was on the hate side (Trendsetter was one color I just could not wrap my head around), but KK has me baffled. I like it in swatches and really love the buttery quality it has, but I don't know if I'd like it on myself.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I own Trendsetter but it's in my untrieds. A lot of my friends who are into polish make fun of me for owning it hahaha. KK reads surprisingly neutral in real life but I'm not sure if you'd like it on you or not--tough call!!
DeleteVery cool! Looks nice on your! It's very interesting and totally agree, looks understated but still unique.
ReplyDeleteThank you! Yes, I like that it's toned down enough to work almost like a neutral but still is a very unique color.
DeleteLooks great on you - I am thinking I cannot pull off this shade on my own hands (or toes).
ReplyDeleteThanks! I'm not sure I could rock it as a pedicure color but I really like it on my hands!
DeleteThis is really lovely, but I think it would look funky with my skintone.
ReplyDeleteI was afraid of the same thing, but was surprised how well it worked! I can't normally do yellows.
DeleteWith a cute outfit, I think this could look really chic!
ReplyDeleteWell, helloooooooooo. It's like a camel colored shade ... but the peanut butter description made me laugh. Any green tones in this? (Because if so, that might make it extremely wearable for me)
ReplyDeleteIt's definitely in the camel family. Peanut butter is one of my favorite foods so I'm just inclined to see it everywhere I guess hahahaha. No green tones in this that I can see unfortunately. It's got a pretty strong yellow/beige-y pull to it.
DeleteThanks for answering my question, lady. :) And I'll definitely put that on my shopping list anyway (the polish, not peanut butter ... althoughhhhh ...) because I am weak for these kinds of shades.
DeleteNo prob! :) Hopefully you'll like it! And I totally had to eat some peanut butter after I did my nails with this--straight out the jar, 'cause I'm classy like that! ;)
DeleteI really like it :]
