China Glaze Spontaneous

China Glaze Spontaneous is a blue-based purple creme. What it really is, though, is pretty much my perfect purple. I bought this as part of one of CG's ombre kits that I got mostly because it contained a long-time lemming of mine, Grape Pop, so I didn't anticipate loving Spontaneous as much as I do. But it wound up being one of the best purple cremes I've ever tried! Plus on top of how beautiful it is, it photographs 100% color accurately--not a concern for the average gal, but an easy way for a purple polish to make it into the heart of this nail blogger.

The formula felt a little watery on the first coat, but it built up well from there. What you see above is three coats.

Spontaneous has been around for a couple years now, but it's not that hard to find. I believe it's still a part of China Glaze's core collection. If you have slightly warmer undertones to your skin, I think this would make an especially flattering purple!

  1. I have that ombré kit too!! It was an early purchase in the start of my nail polish madness :D
I love the two middle colors, you mention both here. I didn't like the light color, Sweet Hook, I had trouble applying it, but maybe I'd do better now after months of practice (tho I still rarely apply cremes). The dark color is called Crimson for some reason. I've never used it other than swatching to a nail wheel.
    Awesome color and post :)

    1. Thanks Arathael! It really is a cool set! So far I've only used this and Sweet Hook from it. I didn't have any application issues with my bottle of Sweet Hook, so like you said, maybe you will find it easier now that you've had some practice time in between! :) Crimson appeals to me the least out of the four. I don't see myself getting a ton of use out of it but you never know!

  2. Like you, I love and adore Spontaneous. This one, Barielle Grape Escape and OPI A Grape Fit are my favorite medium purples.

    1. I've looked at and put down A Grape Fit several times when browsing polish at the store. Sounds like I might have to check it out!

    1. Thanks Melissa! This polish really makes me want to get more. I have a ton of pastel purples and lavenders but not so many true purple cremes.
