Rainbow Honey Holiday Collection: Swatches & Review

I am an enormous Rainbow Honey fan. They have very professional presentation and customer service, coupled with some beautifully inventive polishes--what's not to love? I was hoping we'd see a holiday collection from them and sure enough, they're rolling out some gorgeous new creations next month! Their holiday collection consists of four new polishes, which will be available in both mini and full sizes. The collection will be released December 5 and is currently available for pre-order on Rainbow Honey's official website. Let's take a look at what's in store!

First up is Annual Emotion. I can't remember the last time a polish surprised me as much as this one did. In the bottle, it looks like a gleaming silver chrome. But then when I put it on, that's when some unexpected magic happened...that's when holo happened! Yes, Annual Emotion is a silver chrome with subtle holo! I fell hard for this polish and wore it for three days, which is about as long as I can go without painting my nails. (These pictures are on day three, so you can see it held up really well too.) It's really a polish you have to see in person to appreciate how cool it is.

If you like the idea of Annual Emotion but silver isn't quire your thing (or you just want this gorgeous look in other colors), then Gilded Angel is for you! It's a warm gold version of Annual Emotion and equally as lovely. I love how Gilded Angel and Annual Emotion don't accentuate ridges like a lot of chrome polishes do. They are smooth, molten metal perfection and the holo is a fabulous touch.

Of course, no Rainbow Honey collection would be complete without glitter and their holiday collection has two. Glittering Rapture is a sparkling explosion of red and gold glitter and flakes. The inclusion of flakes and different sizes of glitter gives this polish a unique texture and depth, setting it apart from your typical red and gold holiday glitterbomb. This polish has a great holiday "glow" to it. The gold tone is not too warm and not too cool, so it should look fabulous on just about anyone.

Spirit of Wonder is a white base with blue shimmer, sprinkled with blue and silver glitter. I absolutely fell in love with this one. It looks so crisp and wintery, like freshly fallen snow. Or it also reminds me of Jawbreaker candy--take your pick. :) Either way, it's very festive and fun.

All four polishes apply wonderfully and cover in three coats. I would have a really hard time picking a favorite from this collection. Each polish is beautiful and unique, so I honestly think you can't go wrong with any of them. Spirit of Wonder is maybe--maybe--my favorite but it is such a difficult choice!

I also have to add that each full size collection order comes beautifully giftwrapped--perfect for giving to the (other) polish addict in your life or unwrapping as a fun treat for yourself! Christimas came early for me when these beauties arrived in their adorable box!

Disclosure: These polishes were sent to me for my honest review. For more information, please see my disclosure policy.

  1. These are so, so beautiful. Excellent swatches, Chelsea! As luck would have it, I'm planning to place my first Rainbow Honey order in just a few days... ;)

  2. I love them, but I'm going to have to give them a miss. Based on past experience I know that they won't arrive in Australia in time for Christmas, and while I know they're not *strictly* Christmas colours (eg, they're not red and green) I just feel a bit sad that RH didn't allow time for them to get to some of us in other countries. It's put me off a bit because the same thing happened with the Yokai Collection, I got mine on November 1st and I would have loved to have been able to wear them for Halloween :( The free shipping would have softened the blow, but it turns out it was only available for US and Canada, which wasn't mentioned at all in her email :( *disillusioned rant over*

    1. I definitely agree they aren't strictly Christmas-themed shades so you could totally get away with wearing them beyond the holidays, but I understand wanting to wear them during their intended season too. It's fun to get in the spirit with your nails. Other than wearing them throughout the rest of winter, there is always time to bust them out next year! :) I buy Halloween polishes after Halloween with that thought in mind, but maybe that's just the hoarder in me. I literally have this one Sally Hansen Halloween polish from Halloween 2011 that I *still* haven't worn!

    2. Haha that's why I'm still hesitant, because I know I'll probably find Christmas polishes that I want again next year and these ones will never get worn. Sigh. I'm still torn! Since these don't appear to be limited edition I might get a couple if they're still available when she releases her next collection, it won't be Winter in Australia until June and international postage is a bit expensive for just a couple of polishes.

  3. I ordered these (they haven't arrived yet) and actually I'm a little disappointed seeing Glittering Rapture now... there's so many polishes I already have (okay, two, but still) with that mix of glitter. I was hoping for more red because as a gold with red in it, I've got Essence Gold Fever and China Glaze Electrify... Lame. Thanks for the swatches!

    1. Glittering Rapture is really stunning in person, imo. Even if they have the same color combo, maybe you will still like Glittering Rapture!

  5. Nicely done, Rainbow Honey. At first I thought you were just another glittery indie maker but I must say, I already have a growing wishlist. Well played.
