Essie Yogaga Preview

I don't have any official bottle shots for you, but I thought I'd share this quick pic I took on my phone of Essie's newest collection. It's weird that they didn't do any promotion for this at all, but several other bloggers have also noticed this popping up in stores! I saw these at Meijer yesterday.

L to R: Gym Dandy, Marathin, Boxer Shorts, Pilates Hottie, Yogaga, Spinning Again

There are some nice colors here that will help bridge the transition from summer into fall. However, let me say that I'm not a fan of the name Marathin. It just rubs me the wrong way, like SOPI Iris I Was Thinner. It doesn't exactly strike me as the best message to send.

I was very tempted but didn't pick any of these polishes up this time around because I'd already indulged in Mirror Metallics earlier that day. Boxer Shorts and Yogaga stood out the most to me though, so I plan on going back for at least one of those sometime in the future.

Have you spotted this collection in person yet?

  1. I'm very tempted by Marathin, but sadly I haven't spotted these in person yet!

  3. Boxer shorts looks a bit like Bikini So Teeny from this picture...are they similar or is it just my eyes deceiving me?

    1. I saw them at my Walgreens. Boxer Shorts is a purple, I want to say darker than She's Picture Perfect and without the sheen.

    2. I agree completely with Selena's description!

  4. I was surprised not to hear much about this collection either. I totally agree about Marathin, they should have chosen a less offensive name...
If this collection comes to Switzerland, I'll surely pick up Boxer Shorts, Pilates... and maybe Yogaga. Ugh! I'm so weak!

    1. Yeah, I don't get why they'd choose a name like that--it seems to be in unnecessarily poor taste. And I know, it took some *serious* willpower for me not to wind up with two or three of these shades!

  5. I think they're all ugly but I appreciate your post. Loved the Mirror Metallics and I'm looking forward to Essie's "Stylenomics" line for fall.

    1. Haha that's okay, at least you know you can save some money on this collection! I was kinda disappointed by the preview pics for Stylenomics, but maybe the swatches will surprise me, who knows!

  7. Odd there has been no promo for this line up. But my guess is more polish companies are going to have late summer collection releases. The jump to fall in retail fashion that hits with all the summer stuff gone by end of June and July we are seeing fall preview with retail thinking of all the colleges that start back for fall Aug 1 - who the heck wants to try on heavier clothing in July? Some of us have learned we need to buy our summer sandals in Feb and March or we won't get them come time to start wearing them. Same thing for 'those' white crops or jeans you need - gotta get them before season. But who wants to wear deep fall colors right now? Not that many folks esp in this year all about brights! So I see a niche to be filled here with late season release collection. We saw a couple collections come out with 2 different holiday releases. The long 'dead' time of winter after holiday but still too early to wear spring colors needs some small polish collection releases in my book.

    1. I definitely like the idea of having more collections to help bridge the gap between seasons. I am not ready to see all the fall colors just yet, especially when it's still over 90 degrees outside every day where I live! And I totally agree about having something to fill in the post-holiday downtime. I liked how OPI came out with Nicki Minaj Collection in January last year--it was a fun way to fill the painfully long wait for all the spring collections to come out. I think small collections like this, Essie Poppy-razzi and OPI Nice Stems! are a great way to hold consumers' interests in between official "seasons."

  9. Iris I Was Thinner has always irked me. Marathin is just another example of how one color can spoil the whole bunch. I will not be buying these purely for the terrible choice of names. Like girls don't have enough body issues, they now have their nails to remind them they're "fat?"

    1. I agree the name Marathin was uncalled for and has really negative connotations to me. Polish is something that anyone of any size, shape, etc. can enjoy and you are right that women already receive so many negative marketing messages about their physical appearance as it is. Not to mention the fact that being thin doesn't automatically mean you're healthy! There is much more to fitness than what size you are.

  10. Super excited! I'm going to have to start looking for these in my area. :o)
