Whimsical Ideas By Pam Seuss

I own three Whimsical's and each one is special to me, not only because they're beautiful polishes but because they were all gifts from friends. :) Getting a polish from a friend always makes it that much prettier, don't you think? The Whimsical I've got for you today, Seuss, was a gift from the fabulous ChiChi. Seuss is...well, it's pretty freakin' magical. It's got a vibrant blue base chock-full of tiny blue glitters, medium red hexes and large white hexes.  So cute!

Seuss has a great formula. The base is nice and opaque without being too dense to let the glitters peek through. I used three coats here. The glitters themselves are nicely mixed, with the white hexes being the most common, and they spread easily across the nail.

This polish perfectly captures the fun, colorful vibe of the Dr. Seuss classics. The color scheme reminds me of The Cat In The Hat in particular. What's your favorite Dr. Seuss book? I've always really liked The Lorax!

Sally Hansen Morrac-go

My feelings about brown polish are pretty well-documented here on Nailed, but every now and then I do get in the mood to wear some brown. It'll never be my favorite, but it is fun to try on sometimes! So yesterday I decided to go with a brown that's unlike anything I've ever worn before: Sally Hansen Morrac-go.

This is a warm-toned, almost terracota-esque shade from the brand's Insta-Dri line that I got from the always-wonderful Amanda. I was kinda intimidated by it in the bottle, but once I put it on, I liked it! One of the many nice things about swapping polish with someone is sometimes they introduce you to shades that push you out of your comfort zone. :)

Morrac-go is a one-coater, although I did use two coats to try and cover up a little bubbling on my ring and middle fingers from not letting my basecoat dry all the way before I started applying polish over it. (Oops!) The Insta-Dri brush isn't my favorite, but I gotta say, Sally Hansen's formulas are almost always on point. It's been a while since I wore a Sally Hansen but Morrac-go made me remember just what a fantastic line it is. I truly think they rival the more expensive lines in terms of quality and color variety.

What are some of your favorite Sally Hansen's? I'm a fan of their Complete Salon Manicure line in particular, so Frutti Patutie and Model Behavior are two of my favorites!

Azature Jade Diamond

I've been binging on jewel tones and metallics lately, so I figured the time was right for a bit of a pastel palette cleanser: Azature Jade Diamond! Now, I'm gonna quibble about the name here for a bit, because to me, this is more of a dusty mint green than jade. When I think of jade, I see a darker, more saturated shade of green. I know jade itself comes in a variety of tones, but that's just what I think of. Anyways, whatever you wanna call this, it sure is pretty!

Jade Diamond has the gorgeous, glassy shine I've come to expect from Azature polishes. (After all, they're made with diamonds--how cool is that?) Even cremes like this one look beautifully glossy. The color itself isn't anything we haven't seen before (although I have a special weakness for dusty greens *swoon*), but the formula on Jade Diamond is a definite standout. It's almost a one-coater, but I wound up using two just to even things out. There is no streakiness whatsoever. It's rare to find lighter shades that are as opaque as this one, plus the polish's consistency is absolutely perfect!

Zoya Matte Velvet Re-Release

They're baaaaaaaaack! Zoya's cult favorite Matte Velvet polishes are making a comeback this holiday season and they're bringing a new matte top coat with them! Matte Velvet Top Coat

I've been lusting after Veruschka and Savita for a long time now, so I'm happy to have the chance to finally pull the trigger on those beauties. I'm really happy that Zoya is listening to fans and bringing these babies back for all of us who missed out before to enjoy. Now if we could just get those OPI suedes to come back...

The Matte Velvets are currently available for pre-order on Zoya's website and it sounds like Zoya will be making them available in stores as well. There's no word on an exact launch date yet, so keep your eyes peeled!

Essie Winter 2014 Jiggle Hi Jiggle Low Preview

Images from Essie's unusually named Jiggle Hi Jiggle Low Collection for Winter 2014 are starting to circulate on the web. While their last collection, Dress To Kilt, definitely had a fall/winter vibe to it--fitting, as we get further into the season--this one is surprisingly different. Well, it sure is...pink. Meh. This looks more like a spring collection than a holiday one, to me. I do like the look of Jiggle Hi Jiggle Low, but the rest I think I can take or leave.

The official release date is October 1, so we should be seeing these on shelves very soon! Are there any you'll be on the lookout for or are you as underwhelmed as I am?

Butter London Brown Sugar

I'm trying to get back in the swing of blogging after being gone for a few days. So today I've got a beautiful Butter London to show you guys! Yaaayyy!!

We're gonna talk about Brown Sugar, a rusty burgundy metallic with gold microshimmer and larger gold glitter pieces--almost like little sprinklings of sugar, hence the name. :) This polish is pretty much autumn in a bottle. Plus the fact that it's basically a foil and a glitter all in one means it's crazy shiny and glow-y!

Brown Sugar was a bit sheer on the first coat, but built up nicely in three. The polish has an excellent consistency to it as well, making it very easy to spread across the nail.
