OPI Vampsterdam

Ah, Vampsterdam. Great name. The polish itself is kind of the odd one out in the Holland Collection though. A raisin-colored frost is pretty unexpected, especially for an OPI spring collection. Vampsterdam isn't majorly frosty like some of the old school frosts from the 90s but it's still got a brushstroke-y, velvet-esque look to it. I'm not sure how I feel about this one...

I don't love it but I don't hate it either. I certainly don't have anything else like it in my collection already, so I suppose that's a plus. The formula is pretty good too. I used two coats but later I noticed a few patches after everything dried, so three would probably be the magic number here. Since this is a frost, I did have some issues with brushstrokes.

Vampsterdam doesn't have much in common with the other Holland colors, as I mentioned. It was fun for me to try something outside my wheelhouse but my overall reaction to Vampsterdam was kind of ho-hum. I'm a bit torn on this polish... What do you guys think? Did any of you pick up Vampsterdam?

  1. I really like it. I haven't picked it up yet but there are so many from the Holland Collection that I like. It would look really pretty under some glitter :)

    1. Overall I think the collection has a lot of nice polishes it in it! Maybe layering this one like you suggested would help hide the frost? Hmm...

  2. This is a beautiful dark color, but I'm not so sure about the frosty aspect of it, even if it's not that noticeable. I'm not super in love with this one, but it's still really pretty.

    1. Weird colour to release in the Spring-almost makes me wonder if they found an old polish drum from the 90's that they forgot to open n' bottle...lol. ; )

    2. @Melissa: That's exactly how I feel as well. I'd like this a lot more w/o the frost and while it's pretty, it doesn't quite do it for me, mainly because of the finish.

@Erin Does Nails: Haha yes, this definitely looks like some old school OPI they unearthed somewhere! Such an unusual color--and finish--for spring...

  3. I think you hit the nail on the head: I don't hate it but I don't love it. It also seemed a little out of place in the rest of the really soft and sweet collection.

    1. Totally, the collection is mainly brights and then some softer, but still saturated, colors. Vampsterdam is alright but it just looks so out of place!

    1. The name is beyond awesome. And that's fine that you love frosts--to each their own! :)

    1. Yeah the frost kind of kills it for me... :-/ Still a pretty base though.
