Essie Using My Maiden Name

Essie Using My Maiden Name is a blue-based lavender with iridescent pink shimmer. To me, this was the standout polish from Essie's Wedding Collection this year. I picked up one other polish from the collection, My Better Half (which I've worn twice but have never managed to get decent swatches of), and it's lovely, but there is something that really appeals to me about Using My Maiden Name. I guess I am just a sucker for good pastels!

I am always wary of Essie's shimmers since they are kind of notorious for not showing up on the nail like they do in the bottle, but I took a chance on this one and thankfully the shimmer shows up. It's not super intense (more of a hazy shimmer than a sparkling shimmer, if that makes any sense) but it's visible, especially in sunlight, and it adds to the beautiful base color. The formula is a bit runny but solid overall. I was impressed with the lack of streakiness. This is three coats.

Using My Maiden Name is definitely a hypothetical contender for my wedding polish someday (yeah, I'm a huge dork and think about what polish I might wear for my wedding). It's fun yet still demure and very feminine. If you're married, what polish did you wear on your wedding day? :)
